I think it looks fine, maybe too bipedal but that just how nidoqueen stands... so no problem on that.

Nice, i think she's pretty cool.

About gun fire: You can go for a cartoonish approach, so... you shape the flare like a pointy flower that gets out of the gun's barrel.
Can't go wrong with the contrast between yellow to reddish for the flare, i hope that helps.
